A quick peek into Huraa
A tiny island situated just 21 km from Malé, Huraa is a popular getaway spot among both locals and tourists. Getting to Huraa from Malé is just a matter of 20-25minutes via speedboat.
You’ll quickly notice the contrast between the always bustling Malé, and a much more relaxed, and quieter Huraa. With a population of just around 750 people, the island is an immersive experience in the authentic Maldivian lifestyle.
Hiding a rich cultural history, Huraa was once the birthplace of the last royal dynasty to rule over the island archipelago. Today, it is known mostly for the lush mangrove reserve that houses an expansive range of flora and fauna.
Huraa houses a large number of guesthouses, a few gift shops and convenience stores. There are also couple of cafés on the island offering both local and continental cuisine.
